28mm is Olympic standard, 32mm was developed for a  consumer base that wanted a more comfortable grip when using gym rings.  However, we decided to go with a thickness closer to the parallel bars standard, so we settled on a 40mm grip we refer to as Chunky Monkey! https://youtu.be/gU3gnRgJ0JA Gym rings are a great way to improve upper body strength as their unique high mounting point means you need to do more work stabilising yourself as you do pulls ups, muscle ups, chin ups and push ups.  They are great for calisthenic body weight training because of their extreme versatility.  We have made them even more useful with multiple sections and multiple functions in order to maximise utility and bang for your buck & body. Our Chunky Monkey gym rings have multiple 40mm rounded sections:

1. 50% round standard gym ring
2. 25% straight flat jug
3. 25% curved ergonomic jug for comfort

Comes with a 40mm thick attachable bar to turn the rings into a Push Up Stand (12cm high) when placed on the floor.  Even with the push up bar attached, they can still be used as gym rings perfectly well and they do not get in the way.  They also do not need to be attached and they will perform just as well without them.  If you want a more narrow grip check out our 32mm standard exercise rings with multiple sections and fingerboard climbing holds for grip/finger strength training.
